Why Are Emails Going to Spam?

Email is a tricky business. Email service providers like Gmail and Yahoo are constantly tweaking their algorithms to ensure users only see relevant emails in their inbox.

Here are some things you can do to ensure your emails make it to the inbox.

Send plain text emails only.

Use Messenger’s plain text email editor only. This is the easiest way to improve your deliverability right away. Fancy HTML emails perform up to 30% WORSE than their plain counterparts.

Avoid too many links & images.

If you have more than 3 links in the main body of your email, that’s a red flag. Try to limit your content to a few links and images at most.

Test your email with a Spam Tester.

See if your email is triggering any spam alerts by testing it with a spam tester. Checking with sites like  https://www.mail-tester.com/ or https://www.experte.com/spam-checker will show why it may be considered spam.
